When we tell Staley not to do something, we usually explain to her why. The top 3 reasons we list? It's dangerous, it's yucky, or it's not nice. Running into the street, playing on the stairs, standing up on her chair--dangerous. Putting crayons in her mouth, playing in the garbage, tasting kitty treats--yucky. Pushing, kicking, hitting--not nice. So yesterday we had this conversation.
Staley: "Staley pick nose." (As she proceeded to stick her index finger up her nose.)
Me: "Don't pick your nose."
With a serious expression, Staley took her finger out of her nose and said knowingly, "Dangerous."
I'm not sure how dangerous it is to pick your nose, but if it keeps Staley's finger out of her nose, I'll go with it.
