One Week

Our little Briggs is already one week old!  He's growing and changing and figuring out this world around him.  Early in the week, Briggs had a couple nights where he thought that it would be more fun to be awake and entertained all night and then sleep all day.  However, he seems to have sorted that out and his night time sleep habits have greatly improved.  He generally eats every 1 1/2 to 3 hours during the day and every 2 to 4 hours at night.  Other than eating, he does a lot of sleeping and filling his pants.  He also has demonstrated long periods of being awake (up to 3 hours at a time), which is way more fun during the day than at night.  And although he doesn't enjoy diaper changes, sponge baths (except for hair washing), and being hungry, he's otherwise a very content and mellow little guy.

My little bright eyes

All things considered, it's been a pretty eventful first week of life for Briggs.  He's spent lots of time with his grandparents.

Meeting Uma for the first time

Chilling with Papa

Fun times with Grammie and Grandpa

He's had the chance to meet most of his aunts and uncles and cousins, as well as a few neighbors and friends.

Snuggling with Aunt Jill and Lila

"Aunt" Krista drove several hours just to meet Briggs

Hanging with Aunt Melissa, Caroline, and Liam

Wide awake for his time with Aunt Carrie and Elliott

Getting cozy with cousin Olivia

Some bonding time with big cousin Cade

He road tripped to the doctor where it was determined that he is already gaining back his birth weight.  (He was 7 lbs, 9 oz at birth, 6 lbs, 15 oz when he left the hospital, and 7 lbs even at his 4 day check-up with Dr. Cross.)

He looks so tiny in his carseat.

It's been a fast and fun first week getting accustomed to our new life as a family of five.  Briggs seems to be taking this major life change in stride.  We are loving life with our new little man.  I know these newborn days will fly by so quickly, so I'm trying to soak it all in.
