Tonight I was walking upstairs with Briggs to put the kids to bed. Adelie, who was just a few steps behind me, started crying, "Wait for me! Wait for me!" Staley responded, "Don't cry, Adelie. You don't need to be scared. I will always be with you." Then she corrected herself and said, "No. Jesus will always be with you. You should just pray and Jesus will protect you from wild animals."
I'm not sure a fear of wild animals was what brought on Adelie's tears, but Staley's reassurance warmed my heart...even if it was mildly misguided.
