Here it is, October 31st, which seems like just the right time to circle back and take a look at what happened in September.
One of the main reasons I haven't posted anything in a few months is this!

Cross country filled our September. With me coaching at the middle school, Adelie running at the middle school, Staley running at the high school, Zach timing all the home meets for both levels, and Zach and Briggs cheering the girls on at all their meets, cross country dominated the Sancken house. It will have its own post soon, but since most of my September pictures are cross country, it needed to be included here.
The other main attraction in September was Homecoming. There were dress up days and the Homecoming parade and special activities.
Staley was in the parade on the high school cross country float, Adelie and I rode on the middle school cross country float, and Briggs collected all the candy from all the floats.
And although Briggs isn't always my super-participator, he did dress up for twin day at school with Freddie and George. Both girls participated in the Homecoming dress up days too, but I didn't get any pictures of them.
The middle school CC team celebrated Homecoming with tie-dying shirts, enjoying a team meal after practice, and riding in the parade.
It was a tiring but fun week. Staley stayed busy during Homecoming week with student council activities (like decorating the freshman hallway), dress up days, and the cross country team meal and Saturday meet.
And, of course, it all culminated in the Homecoming dance!! (Thank you, Keerah, for letting us borrow the dress! It was perfect!)
Staley got ready at her friend Miley's grandparents lake house with her friends Braelyn, Kyleigh, Tenley, Miley, Jerzie, and Molly.
They had a great time doing their hair and make-up, doing one-by-one dress reveals, taking before/after videos, and then taking pictures.

I loved that her sweet group of friends wanted to do Homecoming pictures with their Bibles! So thankful for this community we live in and the group of friends that Staley has chosen.
After all the picture taking, the girls enjoyed a yummy dinner at the Pickled Radish (that Jerzie's parents own and comped the girls' meals!!)
They then enjoyed the dance at the high school, staying until it ended at 11.
It was a great first Homecoming experience for Staley. She had so much fun with her friends, looked beautiful, and embraced the fun that high school can bring.
Briggs finished off his soccer season in September as well. He mostly enjoyed playing, kicked the ball and got in the action during every game, and wasn't too sad when it was over.
NTA activities continued throughout September and the girls even fit in a performance at the Fine Arts Fair in Peoria between all their cross country activities.
So to sum up, September was filled with school and school-related activities like football games and concession stand shifts...
drama club and student council...
and library board and Band. (Although both the girls have dropped Band, now we have a new 5th grade percussionist in the house!)
And the rest of our time was filled up with cross country.
So much cross country!!
And a little bit of soccer too.
It's really fun to see my kids fill their days and their weeks with things they love. I am so thankful that I get to watch my kids experience new things and begin to coordinate their own social calendar. The days and the weeks fly by and sometimes it feels so overwhelming. But then I have a moment to breathe and to look back over the pictures from the past month(s) and realize how truly blessed we are. So many memories. So much to celebrate. Thank you, September. You were a good one!
