As hard as it is to believe, my baby boy is 3 years old. And is my custom, this is my lengthy blog post about Briggs at his new age. Briggs currently weighs 30 lbs and is 37" high. He is still wearing some of his 2T clothes, but is primarily wearing his 3T clothes and his size 7 shoes. Briggs is fully potty trained during the day, including naps, but still wears a pull-up for sleeping at night. He is dry in the morning about 50% of the time. Briggs has started going to 3-5 year old story hour at the library and just started Sunday School and Children's Church at church this week rather than being in the nursery. Briggs sleeps for about 10-12 hours at night and still generally takes about a 2 hour nap in the afternoons, although rolls with it pretty well if he has to miss his nap.
He's a pretty easy-going guy!
Likes: Briggs likes anything with wheels. Favorite toys are his cars and trucks, train table, Paw Patrol characters and vehicles, and his diggers. He loves to build with Magna Tiles, and also enjoys Mega blocks, and his big cardboard blocks. Briggs is still drawn to tiny things and plays with his Busy Book characters a lot. Wherever we go, Briggs is generally carrying something small, whether it's a train, car, character, or vehicle. Briggs loves to read and will sit for long periods of time to listen to books being read to him. Of course, he loves books about vehicles. Thomas books, Elephant and Piggie books, and the Pigeon books are favorite book series.
Just doing a little silent reading
Briggs loves to play games and is usually happy to play whatever his sisters choose. Given his choice, he usually picks the Blaze game, Tumble, Take the Cake, or Tumbling Monkeys. He also likes to play with the little trains in Ticket to Ride and the little cupcakes in Princess Cupcake Party. We rarely watch television, but if given the chance to watch something, Briggs generally chooses Paw Patrol, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Blaze and the Monster Machines, Thomas, or Veggie Tales. He loves the vehicles from the Cars movies, although is scared of mean school bus from Cars 3. Briggs enjoys playing outside. He loves his sandbox, but also enjoys sidewalk chalk (where he is always asking people to draw a train for him), his ride on toys, and his scooter. He also has some tools outside and can often be found fixing his digger, fire engine, or cozy coupe car.
Outside time is always fun!
Briggs is a generally good eater. Favorite foods include chicken nuggets, meatballs, quesadillas, waffles/pancakes, pizza, cereal, most fruits, and most sweet treats. Briggs wears whatever I pick out for him, but loves to wear clothes and PJs with vehicles on them. He also likes to wear his tie and bow tie.

Briggs is pretty social, and enjoys playing with other kids at the park, nursery, church, and library. He loves playing with his cousins and his sisters. And he's still a bit of a Mama's boy. (This Mama doesn't mind. :))

Dislikes: Briggs does not like stopping fun activities or waiting for things he wants, although is controlling his reaction to this a little better at times. He does not like anything even remotely scary and is opposed to watching most movies unless we can assure him that there are no bad guys or scary parts. Even then, he's often not to sure about it. He also takes out bad guy figurines (like Ursula or Mother Gothel) from the figurine box and puts them in my room. There have even been a few library books that have "scary pictures", like the giant in Jack and the Beanstalk, and Briggs refuses to read them. Briggs won a big minion pillow from a library drawing. He likes it, but doesn't want it in his room at night. Briggs is a generally good eater but does not like most casseroles.
Skills: Briggs is a pretty active little guy. He runs fast, jumps, climbs, goes up and down stairs, and propels his scooter pretty well. He never quite mastered pedaling his bike last fall, so we'll see how he does in the spring. He's pretty cautious about most things and has to be encouraged to try things on his own rather than having someone help him. Briggs is pretty good about figuring out how to open and close things, use his tools, activate different levers and toys, and build things. He likes to scribble, paint, glue, and put stickers on paper. He enjoys family games and is pretty good at understanding the rules and taking his turn. Briggs is pretty independent. He feeds himself, although needs reminders to use his silverware, and drinks from an open cup. He washes his hands by himself, always insisting that I smell them when he's done so I can see how clean they are. He helps brush his teeth. He can take off his clothes, and can usually get his pants and underwear on if they are set out for him. He can take off his shoes and coat, but can't yet get them on all by himself. He can put on his own rain boots. Briggs can take himself to the bathroom, but still needs help with wiping and clothing management. He also likes to help in the kitchen. He's pretty good about cleaning up his toys when he's not upset about stopping whatever activity he was doing at the time.
He can also put on his own goggles. :)
Briggs is a smart little guy. He talks really well with some cute mispronunciations. He uses some Adelie-isms like saying "bed-night" instead of nighttime and "this day" and "next day" instead of today and tomorrow. He also says "next time" instead of 'last time' or yesterday. Briggs counts really well, counting by himself to 29, although, like Adelie used to, he always says "14, 14, 16" instead of "13, 14, 15, 16". He does really well with 1 to 1 correspondence when counting objects and items, and loves to count objects. He can sing his ABCs, knows most of his colors (although still gets tripped up with gray), knows most of his simple shapes (although still finds square and rectangle tricky), knows the names of most construction and train equipment, is very observant and curious about things he sees and hears, and has a good memory for things that happened "next time."
He's my smart little guy!
Briggs is a very sweet little guy. He loves to cuddle and gives lots of hugs. He uses good manners and is concerned when someone is crying or hurt. He is quick with an "I love you", which always melts my heart. Briggs loves to make people laugh, especially his sisters, and often resorts to "potty talk" to make this happen. He is often talking about poop or pee or toots or bottoms or burping or being naked. *sigh* But despite that, Briggs is a happy, giggly, sweet, snuggly, loving, smart, fun, amazing little boy. I'm so glad he's mine!!
