Adelie's birthday tends to be the birthday that gets the most spread out as, for the last several years, her birthday has landed during our spring break trips. And although she might not get as timely as a birthday post as her siblings, the joy of celebrating Adelie in all her uniqueness is never taken for granted.
Adelie burst onto the scene with her sweet, social baby-ness but quickly showed us how our world would be rocked by this little wild child.
Before she could even walk, she was climbing on and getting into anything she could.
As a toddler, it was a good thing she was so stinking cute because she definitely kept us on our toes.
With little Adelie around, you never knew what was going to happen or what she might try to do next.
I always thought this picture captured Adelie perfectly. Curious. Adventurous. Doing her own thing.
She was always equal parts sweet with a little sassy...
...always messy...
and always, always, always silly.
As Adelie has grown up, her wild side has mellowed...
but her sweet (and silly) side remain firmly intact.
Life with Adelie is never dull.
And I wouldn't want it any other way.
I sure do love this sweet, sensitive, generous, thoughtful, silly, sincere, smart, funny, thoughtful, kind, uniquely wonderful 12 year old! Can't imagine our family without her spark!!
