Adelie's Birthday

Yesterday was Adelie's birthday.  She had a fun birthday party with Briggs last week-end, but that didn't mean her actual birthday was any less special.  She picked out a special "fancy" dress to wear to church.  She took treats to her friends in Sunday School.  The whole church sang "Happy Birthday" to her at lunch.  She got phone calls from some of her cousins and aunts.  Since we got 6-8" of snow the day before (WHAT?!?!), Adelie and Staley played out in the snow for a few hours with Zach and our backyard neighbors.  They called it their "sledding party" since they spent most of the time sliding down our little backyard hill.

March blizzard means snowy birthday fun.

After snowy day fun, a warm shower, and putting on another tutu dress, Adelie enjoyed her birthday dinner of choice (meatballs with cheesy carrots and fruit) with grandparents.

What a lucky girl to get to spend her birthday with Uma and Papa...

...and Grammie and Grandpa.

There were a few presents to open from us and grandparents, including some Wellie Wisher clothes and accessories, mermaid pajamas, and her own scooter.

Staley used her caring coupons from school to buy Adelie some slime at the Caring Coupon Store.  Then she made her a book called "Slime, Slime, Slime" with interesting facts that we looked up about slimy things like snails, slugs, frogs, and snakes.  Adelie was very pleased.

And no birthday is complete without birthday treats.  Adelie requested Staley's famous Muddy Buddies (puppy chow) and mint chip ice cream.

To round out Adelie's birthday fun, I planned a little play date with a few friends and cousins this morning.  Initially I had hoped to meet at a park to play.  However since the ground is still covered in several inches of snow and the temperatures were still in the 30's this morning, we met at McDonald's to play and eat instead.

A few of Adelie's friends (Reese, Grant, Preston, and Jaci) and a few cousins (Liam, Caroline, and Lucy) met us for the fun.  Adelie had a great time!

We got home just in time to grab Adelie's treats for pre-school (ice cream sandwiches) and head to school with her friends.

What a fun birthday for my big 5 year old!!
